Each individual or a place has its own personality and identity. A person, however wealthy and healthy he may be valiant and virtuous he may be, all his wealth and velour are useless, if he is not educated in the real sense of the term. Knowledge tops all the virtues. Same is the case with village. However, big and beautiful a village may be, it lacks a lot if there is no good center of knowledge in it. A good school is the gem and jewel of a village.

MOTA, a small and beautiful village, 7K.M. north ward from its taluka place Bardoli, and 32k.m. Eastward from its district headquarter Surat – enjoys a gem like school today. Its educational campus crowns the village. But it has its own history of growth and development.

The Mautik Brahmins, the elite inhabitants of Mota, Saw the seed of education some 50 year back, by starting a primary school. The famous RameshwarMahadev Temple and many other temples here enriched the religious feelings and socio-cultural milieu of Mota. The Patels, Anavils Brahmins, KoliPatels, Carpenters, Blacksmiths, Halpatis and Harijans constitute the collage of the 12000 inhabitants. Agricultural base of the villagers weakened and economic structure, but their quest and third for knowledge turned them to establish a school. There had been a Primary School for Boys and Girls of Std. 1 to 7, and later one “Madhav Anglo Vernacular School” was established by Madhavrao, a Bombay – based Brahmin of Mota. He also started a charitable Dispensary for the surrounding 12 villages.

The geographical condition of Mota marooned the village during four monsoon months , which added the plight of school goers. In such a condition the well wishers and the heads of the village formed MOTA KELAVANI MANDAL in 1959 and started a class of std 8th with 20 students ! This was the ignition of our educational campus ! But alas ,we had to pass through a teething trouble . The school started its function sans the benches to sit and board to write. But the enthusiastic and zealous management members did not lose courage. They tried hard to expand and develop the school gradually. After 10 year , Shree Shantaram Mugatlal Bhat , cine- industrialist in Mumbai, whose native place was Mota - do generously donated a large sum in the memory of his father "SHREE MUGATLAL JAYKRISHNA BHATT" To construct a new school building , which took the nomenclature of the school as - "SHREE MUGATLAL JAYKRISHNA BHATT SARVAJANIK VIDYALAYA" Today the school has proved to be a flourishing fountain of knowledge in the village .It has grown and developed like a banyan tree. For the last 30 years numerous families of Mota have settled at various cities in India and abroad . Though they breathe and breed there , their roots are still in their own village which nourishes their sentiments.
